What is TF-CBT?
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a structured, evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, such as sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, traumatic loss or other frightening events. It helps young people understand their reactions, learn skills to calm their bodies and minds, and gradually process what happened in a safe, paced way.
A caregiver who is not the source of the harm usually takes part, learning how to support their child and strengthening the relationship that helps kids recover.
Specialized expertise
Ashley Labistour has been certified as a national TF-CBT trainer and therapist since 2008, meaning she not only provides this treatment but has trained other clinicians to deliver it. Her top specialties are sexual abuse, trauma and PTSD, and anxiety.
